Sustainable finance, green technology and circular economic practices were key themes at Sri Lanka’s Green Economy Forum, held at the BMICH in Colombo on 28 October.
The Green Building Council of Sri Lanka organised the event with the World Green Building Council. It took place alongside the 15th Annual Green Building Awards, which recognised work in sustainable construction, manufacturing and corporate practice.
Technology and finance linked to development priorities
Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath urged participants to connect sustainability with national development decisions. The Government Information Department reported that his remarks covered transparent business practices, environmental reporting and access to responsible investment.
International partnerships were also discussed as a way to improve access to expertise and finance. Renewable energy, efficient buildings, waste management and climate-resilient infrastructure were among the areas highlighted for cooperation.
