A display showing a number does not explain which job a cash machine has completed. It may show the quantity of notes, a supported monetary total or information associated with a sorting task. The buyer needs to define the expected result before comparing machines.
For businesses evaluating a currency counting machine in Sri Lanka, the distinction is practical. A device that meets one counting requirement may not perform every other task implied by the word count.
Write the required result in plain language
| Requirement | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Piece count | The number of notes processed under the selected mode. |
| Denomination recognition | Recognition of the supported note values. |
| Mixed value total | A monetary total for the intended mixed batch and currency configuration. |
| Physical sorting | The actual groups and output handling required by the business. |
Ask the supplier to identify which functions the proposed unit supports. Keep the answer attached to the quotation. A product-family name or a broad claim about advanced counting should not replace an exact configuration.
Keep denomination mixing separate from source mixing
Notes of different values may belong to one till. Notes from different tills may have the same value. These are different organisational questions, and a machine’s recognition capability does not establish the ownership of a batch.
Preserve till, shift or department references throughout preparation and counting. If the workflow requires sources to remain separate, keep that separation even when the equipment can process mixed denominations.
Demonstrate the tasks you actually need
Prepare authorised sample batches with known expected results. Label each by the task being tested, such as already separated notes or a representative mixed batch. Check the selected mode before the demonstration begins.
Use the Aiken ST-150 currency counting machine page to begin a configuration discussion, then confirm support for the required currencies and note series. Ask whether setup or updates are needed for the quoted unit.
Follow exceptions through to a decision
Ask how an alert affects the running result and where an exception note goes. The operator needs to know whether a count should be resumed, restarted or reviewed under the organisation’s procedures.
A rejected note is not, by itself, a final determination about that note. Follow the approved examination or escalation route. Do not treat detection functions as a guarantee that every problematic item will be identified.
Test the record after the screen stops
If the business needs a denomination summary, external report or other output, demonstrate it. Confirm whether the machine provides it or staff must prepare it separately. A visible port does not establish that a required integration is supported.
Finish the test with a labelled batch and a record another authorised person can understand. Share that complete workflow with Aiken before ordering. The right capability is the one that carries the required information from incoming notes to an understandable handover.
