Sri Lanka–Türkiye trade discussions — news photograph

Market access for Sri Lankan products and closer business partnerships were central to trade discussions between Sri Lanka and Türkiye in Ankara.

Deputy Foreign Minister Arun Hemachandra met Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of Trade, Mustafa Tuzcu, on 27 October. The Government Information Department published details of the meeting on 29 October.

Private-sector connections under discussion

The talks examined opportunities to expand commerce, identify additional export openings and encourage investment. The two sides also considered stronger connections between their business communities and greater private-sector participation.

The official account presents the meeting as part of continuing economic cooperation. It does not identify a concluded commercial contract, new tariff concession or specific investment amount. Further dialogue and practical business links were highlighted as the route towards developing the partnership.
