Sri Lanka’s public eye-care programmes and climate-related investment opportunities featured in Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya’s engagements in Antigua and Barbuda on 2 November.
At the Global Summit for Eye Health, she described eye care as part of the country’s free public healthcare system. Her address highlighted school vision screening and the President’s Fund programme providing spectacles to university students who need them.
Healthcare initiatives and investment proposals presented
At the Commonwealth Leaders and CEOs’ Summit, she presented two projects supported by the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub. These were the Climate Resilient Agro-Ecosystems project and the GreenPort Cornerstone proposal for hydrogen-powered, zero-emission port logistics.
The Government Information Department reported that Commonwealth businesses were invited to explore investment in the projects. The announcement records that invitation; it does not state that new investment agreements were signed at the events.
