Sri Lanka and Türkiye have signed a protocol amending their bilateral Air Transport Agreement, taking another step in cooperation on civil aviation.
Deputy Foreign Minister Arun Hemachandra signed for Sri Lanka in Ankara on 27 October. Türkiye was represented by Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Enver İskurt.
Agreement creates a basis for closer connectivity
The Government Information Department said the agreement was intended to support closer air connectivity and wider opportunities in tourism, trade and investment. It also connected aviation cooperation with stronger links between the two countries’ communities.
The announcement concerns the bilateral agreement. It does not provide new airline schedules, fares or route-launch dates. Any subsequent commercial services would need to be announced separately by the relevant authorities or operators.
