Regional maritime representatives have gathered in Colombo to examine digital systems that can improve coordination between ports, shipping stakeholders and public agencies.
The United States-supported workshop opened on 27 October at the Courtyard by Marriott. Its programme focused on Port Community Systems and Maritime Single Window solutions.
Coordination across maritime stakeholders
Deputy Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku and US Ambassador Eric Meyer attended as guests of honour. Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Dr Parakrama Dissanayake also participated, alongside regional delegations.
The Government Information Department linked the workshop to a previously announced US$17 million American investment supporting the digitalisation of Colombo Port operations. The event’s immediate purpose was to exchange knowledge and advance implementation of shared digital processes, with more efficient maritime gateways as the longer-term objective.
